Tomahawk.VC adds Massimo Schäppi as Partner and grows Team in Portugal and China
Tomahawk.VC is expanding its leadership team by adding Massimo Schäppi as Partner today. Massimo has spent the last several years in Tel Aviv as part of the iAngels team. While being active as investment manager, he was also a member of the investment committee and shareholder of the company.
In the last few years, Massimo has been focusing on Seed as well as Series A+ investments and has built special expertise around FinTech, Enterprise Software, Big Data, AgriTech and FoodTech.
"Massimo brings a lot of relevant domain expertise to our team. We started to discuss opportunities earlier this year and realized quickly how aligned our thesis was. We're excited to bring him on full-time as of today!", Cédric Waldburger, Founder of Tomahawk.VC, adds.
Massimo has previously lived in Singapore, Hong Kong and Tel Aviv. Massimo earned a B.A. in Business Administration with a focus on capital markets as well as an M.A. in Banking and Finance from the University of St.Gallen.
He joins Tomahawk.VC where he focuses on early stage B2B SaaS and decentralized finance ventures across Europe.
The Decentralized Team Expands Quickly
Tomahawk.VC invests in teams and founders with a 'global-first' approach and so it's natural that their team has been growing in and outside Switzerland. The investment team at Tomahawk has recently added two venture partners: Ricardo Normand in Lisbon, Portugal and Wenxin Zhang in Shanghai, China.
"We strongly believe in these two markets and the opportunities they offer for entrepreneurs. With Ricardo and Wenxin we have found the right partners to help us become active in the local ecosystems.", Cédric Waldburger said about the growing team.
Overall, the Tomahawk.VC team now consists of five people on the investment side as well as four people in operations.
Who is Tomahawk.VC?
Tomahawk.VC was started by Cédric Waldburger in 2019 with a focus on supporting early stage founders with a global-first approach. Claude Donzé joined early on and mentioned "It's been a year since I joined Tomahawk.VC and I look back on countless positive interactions with founders. The amount and quality of startups we have seen in Europe has made me very excited for the future".
Tomahawk.VC officially announced the start of their investment activities in April 2020 and has since made four investments across B2B SaaS and Decentralized Finance with teams in Germany and Switzerland.
Tomahawk.VC targets companies that think and act on a global scale from their very start, build their team and culture remotely and are not tied to a certain geographical location - something that has become increasingly important during the COVID-19 crisis. A remote setting enables startups to hire talent from everywhere in the world. Tomahawk.VC supports those companies by sharing reliable methods and processes that have proven their worth over the last twelve years.
Investments include Locatee, Lano, Liquity and Buynomics. Locatee from Zurich is the leading B2B solution for workplace analytics, helping companies efficiently manage their workspace. Liquity builds a decentralized borrowing protocol with team members in Switzerland, England, Vietnam and the USA. The startup will be incorporated in Zug. Lano, based in Berlin, develops a platform on which companies manage all their administrative processes with freelancers and Buynomics from Cologne, Germany, builds the modern pricing tool for large corporates.
